With its rich blend of history, culture, and vibrant energy, Marrakech is a city that invites you to slow down, wander, and take it all in. Beyond the beautiful riads and colorful souks, the city is packed with incredible landmarks, peaceful gardens, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re visiting for a long weekend or just passing through, these are the must-see spots in Marrakech that will make your trip unforgettable.
Jardin Majorelle & Yves Saint Laurent Museum
A visit to the iconic Jardin Majorelle is a must. This enchanting garden, once owned by artist Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent, offers a tranquil escape with its vibrant blue structures and diverse plant collection. Adjacent to the garden, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum showcases the designer’s profound connection to Marrakech and his timeless creations.

Le Jardin Secret
Nestled in the heart of the medina, Le Jardin Secret offers a serene retreat from the city’s hustle. This historic riad complex boasts exquisite Islamic architecture and lush gardens.

Medersa Ben Youssef
This historic Islamic college is renowned for its stunning architecture and intricate tilework.
- Entry Fee: 50 MAD per person
- Tip: Arrive early to experience the site with fewer visitors, providing an opportunity for unobstructed photographs and a more intimate appreciation of its beauty.

Dar El Bacha
As much as Dar El Bacha is a stunning architectural masterpiece, the real reason this place is a must-visit is the famous Bacha Coffee House inside. If you’re a coffee lover, this spot is unmissable! The coffee menu is extensive, and the experience of choosing your brew is part of the fun. You can even buy the same coffee to take home from the shop next to the reception.

Entry Fee:
- 70 MAD for adults
- 30 MAD for children under 12
- 20 MAD for Moroccan residents
- Free for Moroccan residents on Fridays
Tip: Come early! I had to wait 2.5 hours to get a table at Bacha Coffee, but it was totally worth it. If you don’t want to wait, try visiting as soon as they open.

Souks and Shopping
Exploring Marrakech’s souks is an adventure in itself. Wander through the labyrinthine markets to discover handcrafted goods, spices, textiles, and more.
- Tip: Haggling is customary. Approach negotiations with a friendly demeanor, and don’t hesitate to walk away if the price doesn’t meet your expectations.
Additional Tips
- El Badi Palace: While rich in history, this site is mostly ruins, so unless you have extra time, you might want to prioritize other spots in Marrakech that offer a more immersive and visually striking experience.
